*Head Start Assistant Cook/Custodial*
*Reports to:* CSM-Health, Mental Health, & Disabilities and FME/Transportation Manager

Facilities/Materials/Equipment *Requirements:* · *Education: *High school diploma or equivalent.
· *Experience: *At least six months' quality food service experience, current ServSafe certification or equivalent food service safety and sanitation certification, or willingness to obtain.
General cleaning, and light maintenance.
· *Skills:* Coursework or experience in quality food preparation, knowledge of basic cooking and kitchen procedures, good organizational and time management skills, knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation procedures.
· *Knowledge: *Knowledge of culinary trends.
Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program and Nutrition.
Knowledge of USDA guidelines, performance standards, and additional governing body nutrition regulations in preparation, storage, and clean-up of meals.
· *Ability:* To attend a Serve Safe training or an equivalent training course and/or maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid.
To work as a team member.
*Responsibilities:* * Assist the head cook in the daily operations of the food service activities of the childcare center to which they are assigned.
* Demonstrate the highest of standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, honesty, and fortitude in all our Community Action activities in order to inspire confidence and trust in the Community Action movement.
* Support the mission and philosophy of the Head Start program.
Work in partnership with families without judgement or bias, recognizing and respecting individual differences and backgrounds.
* Assist the head cook in the preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snacks for their assigned center(s).
· Adhere to menus that have been provided by the Child Service Manager for nutrition.
· Adhere to menus for children with special nutrition needs as designated by the Child Service Manager for nutrition, as well as be able to adapt to menus for special dietary requirements.
* Relate professionally and tactfully with all families and staff.
Maintain good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
* Assist the head cook in washing and properly caring for the dishes, utensils, and kitchen and food delivery equipment.
* Maintain kitchen cleanliness in accordance with state and local health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Responsible for following food safety and sanitation procedures.
* Assist the head cook in maintaining temperature control charts daily.
* Assist the head cook with having emergency meal plans available.
* Assist the teaching staff in implementing nutrition education activities for preschoolers through food ordering, preparation and provision of equipment.
* Share in all center responsibilities as needed.
* Attend component and staff trainings.
* Provide support to Policy Council functions through preparation of food as needed.
* Assist the head cook with food preparation for monthly parent committee meetings.
* Maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
* Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with CMCCAA policy and procedures.
* Abide by all CMCCAA safety policies and procedures.
* Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CMCCAA.
* Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all CMCCAA programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other CMCCAA programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
* Reports all malfunctions, defects and hazards to supervisor immediately.
* Ensures that assigned facility and grounds are well maintained and clean to provide a safe and healthy environment for the children, parents, visitors and staff.
* Ensures that all chemicals and equipment utilized to clean and maintain facility are secured at all times and out of reach of the children.
* Ensures that adequate cleaning and maintenance supplies are available and reports shortages to supervisor.
* Adheres to and utilizes strict safety precautions when performing daily tasks.
* Request assistance when a task requires more than one person to ensure the task is done safely.
* Assist fellow staff members at other facilities when assistance is needed and approved by supervisor.
* Meets with center staff as a team when centers meetings are held and provides input.
* Meets with service area staff and supervisor for monthly meeting and provides input.
* Attends professional development, workshops, trainings and in-service when necessary.
* Perform other related duties as required.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $14.
