Job Summary: A Baker is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods, including bread, pastries, cakes, and other desserts.
This role involves following Patti's recipes, preparing ingredients, operating baking equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized baking area.
Responsibilities:
Recipe Preparation:
Follow Patti's recipes to measure and mix ingredients accurately.
Weigh and sift flour, sugar, and other baking ingredients.
Dough Preparation:
Prepare and knead dough for various baked goods.
Monitor processes for yeast-based products.
Baking:
Operate baking equipment, such as ovens, mixers, and proofing cabinets.
Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure proper cooking.
Adjust oven temperatures and cooking times as needed.
Pastry and Cake Production:
Create and decorate pastries, cakes, and other baked goods.
Utilize piping bags, molds, and other tools for pastry decoration.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished products for quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications.
Address any issues with product quality or appearance.
Inventory Management:
Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies.
Communicate with suppliers to order necessary ingredients.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Keep baking areas clean and organized.
Perform regular maintenance on baking equipment.
Compliance with Health and Safety Standards:
Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations.
Follow proper hygiene practices, including handwashing and the use of personal protective equipment.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other kitchen staff, including chefs and assistants.
Communicate effectively to ensure a smooth workflow.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Formal culinary education or baking certification is a plus.
Experience:
Proven experience as a Baker or in a similar role.
Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Creativity in designing and decorating baked goods.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy bags of flour or other ingredients.
Working Conditions: Hours include early mornings, weekends, holidays and some evenings.
