The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the CFO and is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and monitoring the organization’s financial data.
This position will provide technical accounting, analysis and support to the Finance Department and to other departments across the Jennie Stuart Health system.
Key position responsibilities include provider contract compensation oversight, financial accounting and analysis, and budget development and reporting in assigned areas.
The Senior Financial Analyst will utilize generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and healthcare financial accounting and reporting standards to perform annual audit preparation and to maintain Jennie Stuart Health internal systems and controls.
The Senior Financial Analyst will accumulate, review, and interpret support documentation for assigned general ledger accounts.
This position will analyze journals, subsidiary ledgers, schedules and other supporting systems and documentation for accuracy of information and reconciliation to the general ledger.
The Senior Financial Analyst will complete special projects as assigned and will review and analyze departmental output and associated applications.
The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with leaders across the Health system.
This position may perform additional duties requiring subject matter expertise in one or more of the following finance functions: General Accounting, Budget, Fixed/Capital Assets, Financial Reporting, or Treasury.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversees all aspects of Provider contract compensation.
Including but not limited to: Pre-employment and annual Fair Market Value analysis.
Monthly wRVU tracking / reporting.
Monthly / quarterly incentive payment process.
Annual Provider payment reconciliation.
Creating / maintaining appropriate policies.
Assisting with annual financial audit and regulatory inquiries.
Prepares reports, spreadsheets & schedules with compiled financial data.
Processes general ledger entries for assigned accounts.
Reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts for month and year-end reports.
Prepares revenue and expense accruals to reflect financial position.
Assist in preparation of financial statements, including but not limited to the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and profit and loss statement in addition to applicable footnotes and accompanying schedules.
Prepares financial and statistical analyses, graphs, and presentation materials; provides analytical support for the finance team and operational partners.
Measures actual performance for assigned accounts against operating plans/standards and interprets the results for all levels of management.
Responds to all levels of management as needed for information requests as they relate to financial statements, budgets, projections, and other Accounting related areas.
Researches and calculates the impact of operational changes to budget, financial data, financial systems, etc.
and the impact of the changes to the organization.
Support the enhancement of existing system-wide financial and operational dashboards and develop new dashboards to support strategic initiatives.
Support the monthly reporting publication that summarizes JSH financial performance and key performance indicators.
Provide support for special projects as assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and governmental regulations as applied to modern health care financial management.
Experience in all aspects of Provider compensation - wRVU, MGMA, Fair Market Value, etc.
Experience in all aspects of vendor and provider contracts.
Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Business intelligence tools Knowledge of the principles of statistical analysis as applied to the development and design of financial reporting.
Thorough knowledge of and experience in financial system applications and software Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook).
Experience in database development and management.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to manipulate and understand complex information.
Effective organizational and time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing Business Intelligence concepts and experience in building robust dashboards to support organization decision support.
Demonstrated commitment to quality & accuracy; looks for ways to improve & promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
Excellent customer service interpersonal skills ability to develop & maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work effectively and independently managing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Required Experience Position Requirements: Education: Minimum - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or another related field.
Work Experience: Minimum - Four (4) years of experience in accounting / finance within a healthcare system setting.
Software / System Experience: Minimum - Four (4) years of experience in athena health EHR for provider clinics.
Four (4) years of combined experience in any of the major hospital EHR systems (ex: EPIC, Meditech, Cerner, Paragon, Sunrise community).
Licenses & Certifications: Preferred – CPA.
