Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency's (CMCCAA) Head Start program is seeking an experienced Teacher's Aide for our Extended Care classroom.
This individual would monitor and provide care for preschool-aged children during the afternoon hours of 1:00 - 5:30, Monday through Friday.
More hours may become available as needed.
Head Start is a federally-funded early childhood education program serving the children of eligible families in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.
Head Start strives to promote the cognitive, social, and physical development of children enrolled in the program, as well as the involvement of their families and caregivers.
*Requirements:*
* High school diploma or equivalent required; additional early childhood education coursework is a plus.
* Previous experience working in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood education setting required.
* Knowledge of developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques and strategies for preschool-aged children.
* Familiarity with early childhood development/early childhood education concepts.
* Understanding of autism and experience working with children on the autism spectrum is a plus.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with family members, co-workers, Head Start staff, and the public.
*Responsibilities:*
* Assist the lead teacher in implementing behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Provide support and supervision to preschool-aged children during daily activities, including playtime, meals, and naptime, ensuring children are supervised at all times.
* Work closely with children with autism or special needs to ensure their individualized needs are met and they are supported during activities.
* Collaborate with the lead teacher in developing and implementing age-appropriate activities.
* Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
* Ensure any information concerning children in evening care is documented.
