Woodward Library at Austin Peay State University is seeking dynamic individuals for two exciting part-time positions! As part of our dedicated team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on several massive projects that will shape the future of our library.
Position 1: Monday – Friday Day Shift (flexible hours during the day) Position 2: Sunday – Thursday Night Shift (6:30 – midnight) What We’re Looking For: Detail-oriented and precise individuals.
Self-starters with a high level of motivation.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Job Duties: Digitization management: · Assist in planning and coordinating digitization projects for government documents, microfilm, and other archival materials.
· Collaborate with team members to establish digitization standards and quality control measures.
· Monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and adjust project timelines as needed to meet goals.
Collection Assessment and Weeding: · Assist library faculty with thoroughly assessing physical collections to identify materials suitable for digitization.
· Follow the criteria for collection weeding in collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
· Coordinate the removal and disposal of redundant or obsolete materials according to established policies and procedures.
· Maintain accurate records of collection changes and ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.
Catalog Searching and Metadata Management: · Utilize cataloging systems and databases to search, retrieve, and verify bibliographic records for digitization projects.
· Collaborate with cataloging staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate representation of digital assets.
Shelving Management and Space Optimization: · Assess space utilization and implement strategies for optimizing shelving layouts and storage configurations.
· Coordinate collection shifting activities to accommodate new acquisitions, digitization projects, or space reorganization initiatives.
· Ensure compliance with safety standards and accessibility requirements in shelving arrangements.
· Regularly inspect shelving units for structural integrity and maintenance needs.
Project Documentation and Reporting: · Maintain detailed documentation of digitization projects, including project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
· Document digitization workflows, procedures, and best practices for future reference and knowledge sharing.
· Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and inform future project planning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with diverse populations, the University community, and the public.
Ability to provide customer-oriented service.
Computer literate with the ability to operate a personal computer and associated applications efficiently.
Ability to learn new computer applications for course and print management.
·Ability to follow standard office procedures and practices.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records.
Ability to be detail-oriented, with the ability to sustain attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple workflows Ability to retrieve and transport library materials from shelves.
Physical Requirements Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, to bend, stoop, reach, push and lift boxes.
Required Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent.
