POSITION SUMMARY: To provide a functional, comprehensive guidance program of direct services for all students under the direction of the principal and other administrative personnel
QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate Kentucky Certification
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate development of local guidance plan based on student needs
Disseminate and interpret assessment information and results to staff, students or parents
Serve as Building Assessment Coordinator (BAC) for local, state, and national assessments as well as coordination of individualized assessments for students
Consult with parents to assist in and/or provide test interpretation, a liaison with teacher/teams of teachers, orientation meetings, referrals to other agencies, information on parenting skills, and planning for higher education and post-secondary plans.
Oversee the maintenance and updating of student cumulative records and other school records and files.
Assist principal in informing students and parents or requirements, policies, and procedures of the school
Conduct student and parent conferences
Perform individual and group counseling and guidance functions and activities, including career and vocational, and social and emotional adjustment counseling.
Assist with behavioral management and development of behavioral management plans
Assist in pre-registration and scheduling of all students
Serve as chairperson of 504 Committee and maintain 504 records
Serve as a designated chairperson of the Administrative Admission and Release Committee
Identify community agencies and work with them as needed
Conduct detailed individual and analysis (counseling, testing, observation) of particular children in order to furnish deeper insight into their educational problems
Assist in the development and monitoring of individual education plans for students with exceptional needs.
Consult with teachers in the development of curriculum adaptations and classroom practices for pupils with special needs
Plan, develop, and present, as requested, a variety of management-related reports pertaining to student progress, guidance, and related matters.
Assist students and advisors in developing and maintaining student Individual Graduation Plans (IGP)
Appraise student interests, aptitudes, and attitudes utilizing a variety of assessment strategies and techniques.
Other duties as assigned by the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
187-day contract with extended employment and salary as determined by the adopted certified and administrative salary schedules of Trigg County Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
