Position Title: Operations Manager Company: First Call Ambulance Department: Operations Reports To: Director of Operations Summary: Provide leadership and management to field operations staff.
Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
Oversee the operations department of the company to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises the day-to-day field activities of operations, including overseeing timely response, appropriate patient care, and proper transportation of patients.
Provides accountability for delivery and usage of supplies.
Ensuring all field employees have what they need to perform their job functions.
Provides individual guidance and direction to field crews on appropriate operational matters, procedures, and practices.
Coordinates replacements of absent crewmembers of out-of-service ambulances as appropriate to ensure proper unit hour utilization.
Investigates service inquiries, incident reports, accidents, and injuries.
Supervises crew handling of drugs and controlled substances.
Establishes and maintains liaison between field personnel and administrative and support departments regarding trip reports, work schedules, education and training, pay, etc.
Evaluates crewmember’s patient care reports ensuring compliancy is meet in regard to SOP, Patient Care Protocols, and Company CQI agendas.
Maintains daily logbook of all events and information occurring during assigned shift and reports to Director of Operations.
Develops relationships with Fire Department Officials and key customer accounts.
Performs all of the above functions in accordance with established financial and operational plans, and goals pertaining to cost effectiveness and efficient management.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate and interact with officials at all levels of government and to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
Methods and techniques of providing on-site emergency medical services.
Use of medical and related emergency medical equipment Applicable BLS, ALS or MCC service levels, clinical practices, procedures and protocols Local area EMS infrastructure and geography Contemporary methods of supervision, leadership and management Leadership and problem solving Supervising, motivating, training and evaluating subordinates.
Providing guidance to subordinates in diagnosing and treating patients.
Exercising judgment, dexterity and physical coordination Communicating effectively at all levels, both orally and in writing Planning, coordinating and scheduling work assignments and time off.
Preparing clear and concise reports, documents and records Driving emergency vehicles Education and/or Experience: Completing two years of college or equivalent management experience Completion of coursework and certification in emergency medicine A minimum of three years of experience as a field Paramedic Completion of a course in basic supervisory and management skills Certification(s) and/or License(s): Current Paramedic certification ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and CPR Current state driver’s license applicable to work location Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, stand, or balance.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 150 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 300 pounds with assistance from others.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment: Working conditions are normal for office and EMS field environment.
Work may require frequent weekend and evening work.
Work may require frequent overnight travel.
