*What does a *_*day-in-the-life*_ *look like?* Provide strategic and tactical HD solutions and support in functional areas of Labor Affairs Specialist.
The Labor Affairs/Union relationships Specialist will focus on employee relations encompassing compensation, FMLA, leaves of absence, and wage/hour issues.
Collaborate with members of Plant Leadership to support business goals and strategy.
Must take a hands on approach and be comfortable with all levels of employees.
*What you will bring: Experience* * 1-3 Years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing setting * 1 year managing *CB and union relationships* * 1 year labor affairs * Strong experience in *collective bargaining agreements.
* * Experience in *employees grievance* * Experience in *Contract negotiations* *Technical knowledge:* * FMLA and medical leave administration * Knowledge of state and federal laws * Benefits and payroll knowledge *Education* * Bachelors Degree * PHR Certification (desired).
*What does success look like?* *Being a key part in CBA negotiations and also in solving employee and union grievances to ensure the correct development of all labor relations.
* Maintain and foster productive working relations with salaried and hourly employees: * Lead Collective Bargaining Agreement and Collective Bargaining * Develop and implement policies to ensure consistent treatment for employees * Coordinate initiatives to encourage employee feedback and engagement * Facilitate company events and represent company in community wide initiatives * Engage in problem solving activities to improve HD processes * Train management and provide support in the interpretation of the Team Book and Collective Bargaining Agreement * Leads the process for review and resolution of employee grievances in the facility * Manage turnover and absenteeism analytics and insights and an action plan to keep them under control in the facility, providing labor stability to the operation * Investigate and resolve employee issues Administer FMLA and medical leaves: * Ensure that Federal guidelines are being met for the administration of FMLA * Track FMLA and medical leaves.
Ensure that documentation provided is sufficient to approve leaves Payroll administration: * Verify payroll entries and changes * Check for accuracy and report any discrepancies to payroll administrator Maintain and distribute, as appropriate: * Current employee information (personnel files) * Policy and procedure manuals * KPI and other tracking reports; including Kronos attendance Assist in aspects of hiring processes for all levels of personnel including internal and external advertising, job fairs, interviewing, pre-employment screening and testing, reference checks, placement of personnel, verification of I-9 form, orientation programs, exit interviews, and unemployment paperwork/hearings, and other paperwork.
