is a nonprofit charitable organization established over forty years ago in Clarksville, TN.
Since then, PDI has been guided by its mission to support individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities by providing innovative programs and delivering transformative services to the community.
We provide free, in-home, educational assistance to children from birth to 4 years of age who are experiencing developmental delays or are at risk for delays.
Early intervention services have been shown to be an integral part in a child’s development and success for the future.
In-home early intervention services are available for children and their families in the Montgomery County, Stewart County, and the Ft.
Campbell area.

* *Developmental Therapist/Early Intervention Job Summary: * The Developmental Therapist is a part of the team that assesses and identifies specific child and family priorities, strengths and needs in order to develop and implement an Individualized Family Service Plan.
(IFSP) This is accomplished through extensive evaluations and interviews with the family.
The Developmental Therapist works directly with children that have been found to be eligible due to their diagnosis or percent of delay showing a developmental delay.
*Essential abilities, duties and responsibilities include the following.

* · Ability to administer and interpret valid, reliable, and non-discriminatory screening and assessment instruments appropriate to the family and the child with special developmental needs in order to assess health, growth, development and deviations in particular area(s) of professional expertise.
· Ability to compose developmental assessment summaries and progress toward outcomes reports in order to measure progress of developmental strategies used within DOE required timelines.
· Knowledge and skill in selecting and administering family assessment instruments to elicit family needs and strengths.
· Knowledge and skill in using assessment information to develop child and family goals to be included in the Individualized Family Service Plan.
(IFSP) · Ability to participate and function as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary team.
· Ability to demonstrate strategies that allow families the choice to exercise their legal rights of equal partnership.
· Ability to assist families to learn to use community, state, and federal resources to advocate for new or needed services.
· Ability to evaluate and train parents in effective parenting and intervention skills to promote their child’s development and positive parent-child interactions.
· Ability to develop and evaluate creative strategies that encourage participation from all family members in the child’s program, therapy, etc · Ability to recognize major disturbances in the family system and assist in making outside referrals when need is beyond program capabilities.
· Ability to describe and differentiate between typical and atypical development and the interrelationship among developmental areas.
· Ability to describe the etiology, diagnosis, and developmental characteristics and intervention needs of the population of developmentally delayed and at-risk children.
· Ability to disseminate information concerning the options of intervention, including financial assistance to families and other professionals in the community.
· Ability to facilitate children’s transition to future placements.
· Knowledge of the importance of maintaining ethical and professional standards and maintaining confidentiality with respect to the sharing of child/family information.
· Ability to provide appropriate developmental training in a center, home or community based setting.
· Ability to document the results on the developmental therapy session using the proper format and within Department of Education guidelines.
· Ability to document into the TEIDS (Tennessee’s Early Intervention Data System) all information as per DOE requirements i.
e.
Contact logs, service log entries, attendance etc.
· Due to the nature of our business, work attendance, punctuality and ability to meet Department of Education timelines is vital to the successful operation of the agency and therefore, Employees shall be required to report for assigned shifts on time and ready to work.
Poor attendance, missed developmental therapy visits, tardiness and leaving early negatively impact our participants and DOE contract compliance.
*Qualifications* 1) Must hold a baccalaureate and/or masters and/or doctorate degree in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (child development), early intervention, deaf education or visual disabilities, special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders, speech language pathology, and/or related field.
Related field means a degree in social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, or sociology.
Related field degrees require a minimum of three (3) years documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families.
This requirement does not apply to Grant staff who provided these services prior to July 1, 2014.
