Position Description:
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a certified paraprofessional who works with a child under the direct and ongoing supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Phoenix Fire ABA specializes in autism spectrum disorders, however an RBT may work with clients of varied ages and disabilities.
This position is for in school and/or in home services.
This is a part time position with opportunities to take on full time clients in the future.
Responsibilities:
RBTs work one on one with clients in a school or home setting to provide ABA therapy and build socialization skills.
RBTs are expected to work with teachers, aides, parents, caregivers, the BCBA & BCaBA to support client needs and work through treatment and behavior improvement plans.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide direct care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
Discuss daily progress with parent and caretakers
Maintain client’s program book
Work with BCBA & BCaBA to implement individualized goals and checklist
Maintain respect and confidentiality of all clients
Maintain technical and professional knowledge through continuing education
Collect data about clients’ behaviors through direct observation
Assisting BCBA & BCaBA as directed with behavior reduction assessments and skill acquisition plans.
Teach clients specific behavior skills called for in treatment plans
Maintain client confidentiality
Demonstrate sound judgment, critical thinking, and decision making
Other duties as assigned

Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavioral Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA laws.
Basic & Physical Requirements:
Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment.
Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer functions for data collection.
Must have reliable transportation.
Strong desire to work with children and adolescents with moderate to severe behavioral challenges
Must be 18 years or older.
Reliable Transportation
40-Hour RBT Training Course as required by BACB
Complete a Federal Background Check prior to working with children
Complete the requisite 40 hours of training, overseen by BCBA
Complete and pass the RBT Competency Assessment and exam
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Required: No experience required, but one year or more of RBT experience preferred.
Preferred: Experience working with children with special needs and or autism spectrum disorders; experience implementing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis; Educational, or Speech experience.
Related Training:
Responsible for completing and maintaining all required certifications and trainings once employed including, but not limited to: Fingerprinting & background checks, RBT trainings, and continuing education courses.
