Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The Prevention Specialist promotes social and emotional skills to K-3rd grade students through classroom presentations and individual sessions; Implements curriculum in group settings; Follows program procedures and policies; Serves as a liaison for participating schools and for other community organizations; Attends meetings and trainings.
*Please note, this is a 10-month position that starts on August 1st and runs thru the end of the school year, May 31st.
The Prevention Specialist will not work during the summer months of June/July, but will report back to work the following August (for school session months).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adheres to program policy and procedures defined in program scope of services e.
g.
, implementation, school policy, classroom presentation etc.
Maintains required written documentation and submits required reports within the specified period of time.
Utilizes behavior-management techniques appropriately in classroom and/or group settings.
Relates to the community, i.
e.
, school staff, parents, and students, positively while demonstrating professionalism at all times.
Refers program participants to community agencies, as appropriate.
Attends supervisory meetings, conferences, and other training sessions, as required by supervisor.
Maintains a team approach with peers, coordinator and manager by working cooperatively on behalf of the prevention programs, and the children served.
Demonstrates competency in presenting curriculum as evidenced by positive evaluations from the School and or State.
Adheres to program standards regarding participant contacts as dictated by contractual program plan.
Maintains accurate internal operations reports for program monitoring and compliance.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Maintain compliance requirement for annual completion of Catalytic Coaching and KPI forms
Regular and Reliable Attendance is required
Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social services, or related field is required
Experience in the field is preferred
