POSITION SUMMARY: Full Time The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals on time in accordance to state and federal regulations and in compliance with facility procedures and policies to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation; including, but not limited to: Accurately follow menus as provided by the Food Service Supervisor or assigned supervisor Complete cleaning assignments as scheduled and directed Review menus prior to preparation of food As assigned, prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in accordance with portion control procedures, as well as for therapeutic diets in accordance with scheduled menus and sanitary regulations Inspect special diet trays to ensure accuracy, portion control, appealing layout, etc.
Evaluate kitchen and dietary area, etc.
, for upkeep, supply control, cleanliness and safety Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc.
to ensure control of food, equipment and supplies.
Assist in orientation, training and scheduling of employees as directed Assist in monitoring to ensure that dietary personnel wear protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste or body fluids Assist in developing methods to determine quality and quantity of food served Required Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of dietary experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other medical facility is preferred, but not mandatory Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements: Must be willing to obtain Dietary Manager certification within one (1) year from date of hire.
If employee is not certified they must have evidence of successfully completion of approved Certified Managers course work or must be eligible and enrolled in an approved Certified Manager’s course no later than the end of the employee’s probation period (90 days) High school diploma is required Physical Requirements: Job will require frequent lifting of objects up to 25 pounds Frequent exposure to odors and biohazards, and exposure to safety risks associated with food preparation, cooking and involvement in a health care facility Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises, trains, provides work direction and problem solving for other workers EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Our Organization does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, veteran status, or any other characteristic(s) protected by federal, state, and local laws.
