Anacharis and Hornwort are considered the best plants in the wild when it comes to the filtration of water as well as oxygen generation.
Ludwigia Repens or Water Primrose are fast growing, beginner friendly plants.
To achieve a constant red color, lots of light is needed.
*Excessive light can cause algae.
Duckweed is a great water cleaner helping with ammonia and heavy metals.
It can grow quickly and become a problem for plants below due to light blocking but can be controlled by removing some occasionally.
All cuttings are 4 inches in length and can be grown, recut, and replanted to fill tank space.
CO2 is not necessary for any of the plants listed.
All plants have a possibility to have ramshorn snails.
These snails are not dangerous and are beneficial for aquariums but can reproduce quickly.
If you do not wish to include snails, please do not buy them or dip them in an alum or salt water solution.
For salt (DO NOT use table salt, aquarium salt only) - in a separate container, mix 1 cup of salt per gallon of water until dissolved.
Rinse plants for 30 seconds in salt water, then rinse with fresh dechlorinated water.
For Alum - in a separate container, mix 2-3 tablespoons of alum per gallon of water until dissolved.
Soak plants for 3-4 hours.
OR 1 tablespoon per gallon for 24 hours.
Rinse with fresh dechlorinated water.
